My Advice to Anyone Wanting to Start
Share
Someone sent me the sweetest message on IG saying how much they've enjoyed watching me grow through the years of Kaulumaika and how they wished they could also take the leap one day to do something similar. They asked me if I had any advice and so I wanted to share with all of you what I shared with her. Keep in mind that advice can change so ask me again in 1 year and see if I would still say what I'm going to say below.
My advice to anyone who wants to start a business or start any journey they are passionate about for that matter is in 2 parts.
Part 1
You have to get in the right head space.
This means that you have to either build a supportive tribe around you to cheer you on and encourage you or you have to have the mental strength to do motivate yourself every day. Neither one is greater than the other and to be honest you'll probably have a combination of the two.
For me, I rely a lot on my husband to keep me mentally in the game because he doesn't sugar coat things so when I tell him how I'm feeling - I can trust that he'll tell me the truth and what's best for me even if it's not what I want to hear.
Part 2
The grind! You can spend all day getting in the mindset and feeling like you'll conquer the world, but then the day goes by and you realize you didn't do anything.
The "get-it-done" method that I've been developing for years now is to use a journal to get all my unorganized thoughts and dreams and plans out and then post it notes to organize my tasks. I pour my heart and soul into my journal and I use the post it notes to plan out and motivate me to get the steps done. When I finish a task, it gives me great pleasure to crumple up the post it note and throw it away.
Conclusion
There's obviously a lot more that I could say about this, but I think this is a good starting point for anyone who wants to start! Believe in yourself. I believe in you! Someone said the same thing to me when I was starting off and look at me now. You and I are not so different!
Now get a journal, grab your post its, and get started!
Tell me in the comments what you're passionate about starting.
