This print features hand painted illustrations of the Native Hawaiian and highly endangered alala bird with its favorite food, fruit, and tree, the Native Hoawa. Manu (birds) and pua (flowers) have a long history in Hawaii of representing a loving relationship. They rely on and help one another and by doing so, make Hawaii a harmonious and beautiful place.
