Family First

Monday August 12, 2024

Week 2 day one of homeschooling the kids and we had a field trip to Laie planned to spend time as a family and also visit some family graves. We packed all our snacks and beach-going things and hopped in the car with only one stop on the way; helping my grandma home after dialysis.

Picking up and dropping off my grandma from dialysis has become something I look forward to every week because with our busy schedules it ensures that I get to see her often. We usually talk about food, the family, and how expensive everything is on our way home, but today she wasn’t feeling good and so instead of taking her home we took her straight to the hospital.

Now I don’t want to divulge too much of my grandma’s personal life so I’ll only share that she is being taken good care of at the moment, but what I wanted to share that has to do with my kids and homeschooling them is that even though taking care of grandma changed our plans for the day I am grateful that my kids got to see and be a part of putting those we love above everything else.

Family is important and even though this second week has me wondering how on earth I thought I could do all of this I don’t regret this choice because my kids are my priority and what they learn every day whether it’s Math or English or Kindness, I want them to learn it first in the home.
