Hau is a possibly indigenous, possibly Polynesian introduced plant, but certainly an important one either way. It has beautiful blossoms that change color throughout the day, starting as a bright yellow and ending as a red, burgundy color. The branches wind as they grow, creating a playground for children and protection for a village. A beautiful and meaningful plant in Hawaiian culture and to Hawaiians.
