Lei Ukiuki (the blue lei) are made from the blue/purple berries of the ukiuki plant. The plant is indigenous to Hawaii making it native even though it's typically not what you would associate with this tropical paradise. It makes a wonderful dye and lei as well.
Lei hala comes from the very important and useful hala tree, which is also indigenous. The hala tree's leaves are famed for being used in weaving. The seeds were made into lei and make great paint brushes once they dry out.
This original watercolor 6x6" piece is signed and comes in an 10x10" mat-board frame. There is only 1.
