My Fun Hawaiian Language Goal for the Week

“Olapa ka uila… i Kaneohe!” Is the lyric on repeat at my home right now. The keiki are home and so Malu and I are figuring out shifts for the summer and what we’ll be doing to entertain and also educate. Malu was teaching them the mele, Kaneohe, yesterday as I was working. I was so happy to walk out of the office to hear all the keiki singing this iconic song. Not going to lie, it made me a little jealous. Why don’t I get Hawaiian mele lessons too?? Do you ever as a parent see all the things your kids get to do and think to yourself - “that looks like fun. I want to try!”

I find myself thinking that all the time! lol And the thing is that no one is stopping me but me! So maybe that’s my Hawaiian Language goal for the week. Learn a mele with my kane. What about you? What goals are you thinking about?
