If your mind was a picture…

This week I was working on a new fabric design and my husband came by and said, “Wow. If your mind was on paper - that’s what it would look like!” I looked again at the piece from further away and nodded my head, “Yep! That is the perfect way to sum it up! and also that’s why I like it!”

Sometimes I look at my art and wish it wasn’t mine. Most of the time I look at everyone else’s art and wish it WAS mine. Do you ever feel this way with things that you care about? I draw comfort from the fact that even if I don’t always like what I create - it is mine! It is a piece of me. A piece that perhaps needed to come out because creating it was good for me or hopefully for someone else.

That’s what I love so much about art and creativity. It is infinite and doesn’t have to come at the expense of anyone but yourself. Let this be your reminder to spend time being creative this week! Cooking, singing, writing, dancing, drawing, painting, sculpting, sewing, planning! Creativity comes in so many ways.
