Through the Wreckage, Our People Come Together
Our hearts and prayers go out to all those across Hawaii affected by the Kona low storm. We have a close friend who has family out in Waialua that lost their home. Having just moved into a condo of our own the thought of losing it in a week after working so hard for years to achieve it - really hits hard. If you have the means and want to donate alongside us to the family friend we know, I’ll link their gofundme here.
Through the wreckage we’ve also been watching people of the community come together as Hawaii always does to serve, help, and assist. We reached out to our friends and family to put together a van full of donations that we drove out to Waialua on Sunday. Traffic was really bad so I would advise, as many community leaders are now advising, to drop off to local spots or coordinate with others to minimize traffic out there.
So grateful to the people who are stepping up to lead, coordinate, and update the community. So impressed by the businesses and individuals giving their time and resources to help where needed. So touched by the youth, men, and women who braved the storm to rescue others. May tenfold blessings find all of them and may permanent leadership roles in government and community be offered to them.
