This hand drawn design features 4 of our favorite Hawaiian Plants namely: Kalo, Hau, Ulu, and Koali. These four plants were a foundational presence throughout the early years of Kaulumaika and represent all the hard work and love that goes into growing something. “Kauwela” in Hawaiian means the hot season. In Hawaiian culture, there were only 2 seasons. There was the “kau wela”, the hot season and there was “hooilo”, the rainy season and time for rest. This collection of prints celebrates kau wela in Hawaii. Each variation of the print nods to an aspect of summer that everyone can relate to.
